Polar Bear Club

http://www.cafepress.com/kawanheegen.215335780

I think that I have 8 polar bear stripes on my paddle (can't remember. I lost my paddle. I'll have to get a new one this summer)

This is a drawing I did many years ago and recently rediscovered it when cleaning some of my stuff from my parent's basement. I sent it along to Gibby and he has put it up on the internet so that people can order tshirts and sweatshirts with this drawing on it. They say "Polar Bear Club" and "Camp Kawanhee" on the shirt too.

Dubside show off some really cool eskimo rolling tricks. We have a whitewater program at camp, but since it's on a lake, all of the greenland sea kayaking skills are useful to practice too.

the video should show up embedded here, but if the player is not working then here is the link for a direct view on YouTube

Kawanhee tshirts and stuff

I looked forward, every summer, to seeing what was new at the camp store. I always bought the new tshirt, and it seemed like I would wear out the hooded sweatshirts every two years (I wear them so often).

Having not worked at the camp for the past two years makes me realize how special the time spent at camp can be. I have been fortunate enough to have long visits to Weld, but realize that there will be one summer where I will not be so lucky. Where would I get my cool Kawanhee tshirt if I'm not in Maine? And what if I want a long sleeved one during the winter?

The answer is here

New Year's Eve 2007 in Weld, Maine

Snow fell before Thanksgiving. Snow fell after Thanksgiving. Snow fell before and after Christmas. Snow fell on December 30, 31st and January 1st. Yup. It lots of snow had fallen by the time everyone decided to visit Weld and have a Kawanhee Family reunion for New Year's Eve.

Many of the Kawanhee Family members who live in Weld opened their houses up to guests from other states. Many of us met at Kris and Wallis' house some time after 8pm to gather sleds and a snowmobile. We headed for center hill. (Will was very excited)

Here is a photo of Ed, doing his best to look comfortable in the cold weather.

After several runs down the hill on sleds and after being towed back up behind the snowmobile, everyone warmed up and started having way too much fun.

You never know what's going to happen with a BenCon in your midst. You only know that it will be fun and funny.

...and we all fall down, laughing, as if we were all campers at Kawanhee again.
